Pork chops with mushroom cream sauce is a delicious and hearty dish that’s perfect for a cozy dinner. Here’s a simple recipe you can try:
Ingredients:
- 4 bone-in pork chops
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme (or 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Season the pork chops: Season the pork chops with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Sear the pork chops: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork chops and sear until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside.
- Cook the aromatics: In the same skillet, add a bit more olive oil if needed. Add minced garlic and chopped onion. Cook until softened and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the mushrooms: Add sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Cook until they release their moisture and become golden brown, about 5-6 minutes.
- Make the sauce: Pour in chicken broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Allow the broth to simmer and reduce slightly, about 3-4 minutes. Then, stir in heavy cream and dried thyme. Let the sauce simmer until it thickens slightly, about 5-6 minutes.
- Return pork chops to the skillet: Once the sauce has thickened, return the pork chops to the skillet. Spoon some of the sauce over the pork chops. Allow them to simmer in the sauce for another 5-6 minutes, or until they are cooked through.
- Serve: Garnish with chopped parsley before serving. You can serve the pork chops with mushroom cream sauce over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta, along with your favorite vegetable side dish.
